Renowned Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo, whose real name is Edrisah Musuuza, has made a passionate plea to his peers in the music industry. Recently involved in campaigns for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kenzo now urges artists to shift focus from politics to professional priorities.
In a recent interview on a local TV station, he highlighted the importance of solidarity. ‘Let us put politics aside and fight for the copyright law amendment. It can be achieved if we are united and moving in the same direction. The amendment will benefit all of us, those in government and those in the opposition,’ Kenzo stated.
He pointed out that the Copyright Law Amendment Bill is already before Parliament and awaits debate. Kenzo is optimistic that the changes will ensure fair earnings for creators and boost Uganda’s creative sector.
