Six years later, PayWay, has made strides with their service incorporating more services that include National Social Security Fund, Utilities, School fees, taxes and oh yes, you can also pay for some of your concert tickets using the service. As you have noticed, the above pic has some companies that have either closed shop or changed name like Orange Internet which is now Africell and of course, Warid that was absorbed by Airtel.

New Internet service providers have since joined on board like Tangerine, Smile, Roke Telecom and Smile Uganda. Airtime cards having been phased out in most city centres, PayWay has come in very handy in addressing that gap.

To become an agent, you must have a registered company, national ID and at least $550 that includes the cost of the Point of Sale (POS) machine and a bluetooth printer, you must also have an Android phone4.0 plus to be able to operate without any hitches.

Payway is a vending machine that can be found at supermarkets and are an ideal way of loading internet airtime for Orange network and airtime for all carriers let alone paying for DSTV, Startimes and Gotv.

It saves a lot of time for orange internet bearing in mind that if you had to buy scratch cards and you are lucky to get large denominations, you would have to enter one by one depending on what plan your on.

The payway vending machine, which does not give change or accept coins will load your airtime on the orange modem instantly in a few easy steps which takes the same time you would use on a scratch card but remember if you had Shs85,000 to load, then that will be at least a 50,000 card and a 20k, 10k card plus 5k to load.

The machine sends you an instant message on your phone to let you know that your transaction was successful on top of an instant receipt. There is a toll free number just in case you are stuck.

So if you are the type who was looking for an alternative around using many cards, then you could try the payway vending machine. You can also pay for water bills, buy an airticket with Air Uganda.

GMail is the internet web based email for Google which enables you surf the web within your email. You can choose to search within you email or just search the web from your email interface.

The beauty with all this is that it comes at no cost other than having a Gmail email account. The cost of a phone call had tremendously dropped to the extent that it was cheaper to call as compared to sending a text.

At least for a start, you have as many as 50 free SMS texts that can be sent to mobile numbers, I have not exhausted mine so I'm not sure what happens after that may be that will be our next article on this subject.

The mere fact that a mobile phone is in most cases with the person your sending this message to, it appears to be more instant than an email most especially if that person has not got access to the internet but the GSM network is available.

In Uganda, the Gmail SMS service is available to those on MTN, Orange and Uganda Telecom. It is not clear when networks like WARID, Airtel among others will get on board though Google is quick to add that; "If you are a mobile operator, and wish to integrate with the SMS feature of Gmail, please drop us a note to: mobile-operators-gmail-sms-integration@google.com"

Replying to (SMS) Messages:
"When you receive an SMS message from a Gmail contact, add the incoming number to your phone's address book (this number is associated with the sender's Gmail account, so you can use it to send Chat messages to that person in the future). Then, you can reply to the message as you would any other text message, and your reply appears as a Chat message in your friend's Gmail account."  from Google.

           
This is technology at work. The pen clipped on a pocket shirt or a court could actually be a camera recording every move that you make. The pen can record up to 3 hours of video footage which can later be transferred to a computer with the help of a USB.

The pen has a gloss black finish with a rubber finger grip with a built in microphone. It could pass for just a mere pen when in actual sense it is a serious recording tool capable of recording all that information as you may want it.

If not put to bad use, it could be a perfect replacement for taking minutes during meetings to avoid mixing up issues arising from the person taking minutes. It could be a fall back position in case of mixed messages minuted wrongly.
