Dorothy Shonga and business partner arraigned before court over fraud

Herbert Shonga's ex-wife, Dorothy Shonga, 30, aka Cash Madam appeared before the Magistrates court in Malawi over fraud and money laundering charges.+

The mom of three was charged alongside three others who include the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Chief Executive Officer Collins Magalasi, Bright Mbewe from the Procurement Department and the MERA spokesperson, Patrick Maulidi.

The three in August 2019 induced the MERA procurement and disposal committee to approve procurements worth Malawian Kwacha (MWK) 107M which is the equivalent of over half a billion Ugandan shillings to Vink Enterprise owned by Dorothy and Collins.

Various news agencies in Malawi have confirmed the development, court will on Friday July 31, 2020 decide if they can be released on bail.

The news of this scandal first surfaced on July 15 and using Facebook, she came out to clarify on the same claiming that it was not true. That was, however, her last Facebook post.

Dorothy and Herbert Shonga divorced in February 2020, which was exactly three years after their lavish wedding, she referred to it as the Hollywood marriage that came crushing from this post that she made on her 30th birthday in May.

Matters of the heart can mean to be complicated, but like they say, a heart wants what it wants, so Herbert Shonga who later changed his name to Habib after converting to the Islamic faith that allows him four wives, will now enjoy his other women in peace.
