Congolese Soukous star, Kanda Bongo Man, 64, is in the country to perform at the UGMIX Dance Party that will be held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala as thousands of fans usher in the new year, 2020.
The venue that is a stone throw away from the State House will have uniformed and plain clothes security operatives to ensure all is well.
"We are deploying plain-cloth officers to secure in and outside the Sheraton hotel starting today," Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Patrick Onyango said in a presser that was held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala yesterday.
Revelers are advised to desist from carrying heavy bags as they will inconvenience them given the huge numbers of fans who come to mostly enjoy the five minute fireworks display.
Bebe Cool, Chameleone, John Blaq and Eddy Kenzo are among the artists that will share the stage with the Congolese star Kanda Bongo Man who is set to hit the stage at exactly 11pm doing his hits like Muchana and Monie among others.
The Congolese singer came with his queen dancers to be sure he gives the fans the treat that they once craved for back then.
Kanda last performed in Uganda 25 years back.
On January 01, 2020 Kanda Bongo Man will be performing live at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe.
Kanda Bongo Man was brought in by promoter Balaam Barugahara of 103.3 FM Radio 4 that will be celebrating one year of existence.
"We have music flowing in our blood. Miriam Makeba died on stage while performing and later Hugh Masekela passed on, that is exactly what we do. I have very many songs that I like, but Muchana is still very popular and Monie." Kanda Bongo Man said in one of the interviews he held.
