Miss Mexico, Vanessa Ponce de Leon, 26, is the 68th Miss World after beating her closest rivals that include Uganda's Quiin Abenakyo to become the Miss World 2018.
Vanessa Ponce was crowned by last year's winner Manushi Chhilar of India in the coastal city of Sanya.
This is the best beauty pageant for Uganda so far as the country's rep has been consistent with her winning game.
Initially, Quiin Abenakyo, made it to the top 40, down to 30 and later 20 and by yesterday, the official Miss World poll was putting her in the 4th position as Nepal's contestant was winning by a landslide, but in the end, Nepal was nowhere to be seen, and they are up in arms all over social media.
Trust Uganda's Quiin, she might have lost the crown to Mexican Vanessa Ponce, but she did not come out of the pageant empty handed, she trounced all the other 21 contestants who were representing the rest of Africa by taking the crown of Miss World Continental - Africa 2018.
The other continental winners include; First Runner up, Thailand´s Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan who is also the Miss World Continental - Asia and Oceania.
There's something about the winner of Miss World Continental Africa and it stems from her name Quiin.
In one of her interviews after winning the Miss Uganda 2018 crown, Quiin noted that from the time she was little, the Business Computing student has always had this thing about being a beauty Queen, of sorts, and she has always carried herself as such, it's no wonder that her name equally rhymes with the word Queen.
As part of the Continental Queen family, our very own Quiin Abenakyo together with the other Continental winners will be travelling with Vanessa Ponce de Leon on the Miss World 2019 Beauty With a Purpose tour.
