UTL Launches 3G Network in Uganda
Uganda telecom has launched the Third Generation Technology network. The (3G) Technology lets customers with 3G enabled phones to access fast broadband data services like multi-media messaging, conference calls and video streaming.
The Chief Operating Officer Hans Paulsen said the service will be available in the greater Kampala and Jinja then later places like Mbarara will be brought on board.'' We are taking the phone to a stage where it is the ultimate tool of communication, and not just for making and receiving calls....We are proud to bring this service to Uganda''.
Television stations like UBC, WBS and NTV can be accessed on this service and talks are underway with terrestrial television providers like Digital satellite Television (DSTV) and Gateway Broadcast Services (GTV) to make their services available on the same network.
