Senior Mengo Officials have claimed that aides to the sacked premier received over 400 Million from the land deals at the KK Land agency. An idea was floated for all those that live on the Buganda land Board to register a move the Kabaka indeed approved. He also approved a business proposal from KK land agents to carry out a tenant registration exercise and issue out certificates. Each tenant that registered had to pay 82,000 out of which 40,000 was remitted to Mengo.The tenants complained of the high fees but later had to pay. Conservative estimates put those who registered to about 30,000 with 2.4Bn in collections. However what has raised tenants fears is the recent message from the new Buganda Land Board calling on people not to continue registering with the company that its contract had expired.
