Winners jubilated, losers cried. The glamour as well as the swag was on last Saturday at UMA Lugogo for this year's Pearl of Africa Music Awards. TGIF's Rowland Nkahebwa talked to some of the winners and losers regarding their views on this year's accolades. Below are some of them.
Jackie Chandiru - Oh my! Female artiste of the year? I'm not yet there but Iam glad I was nominated in that category. It means I can potentially be one. As far as nominations go, the awards were fine but it used to bother me that artistes got nominated in categories they shouldn't have been.
Mun*G - There must have been a network problem and my fans messages ere not going through. The fans know the truth though.
Navio - Exactly, I should have been nominated in that artiste of the year category or at least video of the year for 'Keep Moving'. Mith should have been in Hip Hop for his song 'Fire' and Mun*G really did well this year.
I guess the fans opinion is all that matters. It is good a neutral Ernst & Young handled the auditing and voting issues not PAM organizers. Fans have the last say.
Pastor Wilson Bugembe - Iam grateful to th fans because I did not expect to win anything this year. PAM Awards were fair and every winner deserved it. As for my category, Hilderman did well and Im happy for him because his song is good and I love it. He deserved to win by all means.
Toniks - Well I guess anyone who knows what RnB is can see that I am the only artiste in Uganda who really is supposed to appear in that category. The other nominees have made good music but it is not R&B. Surely how can the same song be in R&B and Afro Beat categories? So is it R&B or Afro Beat?
The bottom line is that 90% of Ugandan musicians are supposed to be in the same category and that is Afro Beat or Afro Pop. How can you put Tonik's 'That Gal' and Iryn Namubiru's Birowoozo, or Aziz Azion's ''Oxygen'' in the same category? Unless you have a hearing problem.
GNL Zamba - Well I was not in the country for the awarding ceremony but basing on what I have heard and read in the papers, I think that whoever sponsors PAM awards dictates the winners.
In the Hip Hop category that Iam interested in, Mun*G really deserved to win the two awards. Anyway, at the end of the day, there are always winners but there is always the next year for the losers. (Note: Snoops spotted GNL at the awards. Claiming he wasn't present is a lie).
Radio & Weasel - We are putting all our focus on the MTV and Channel O awards. We don't care about PAM awards.
Hilderman - I was very surprised because I did not expect to win. However personally Iam going by the public opinion and they say that the PAM was fair.
Vampino - Ugandan music can never progress if awards of recognition are being given to the wrong people.
Grace Nakimera - I am not going to lie. I do not know because I was not present at Lugogo for the awarding ceremony. My sister was wedding and I could not miss it for anything.
OS* Suna - There was an element of unfairness at the PAM Awards this year but I don't care about the awards. The fact that I was nominated means Iam already a winner because my hard work is being recognized.

Fast fading Luga flow singer, GNL has apparently pleaded with Club Rouge boss Spear Abowe for more time so that he could clear his debts. This comes days after we reported that the 'Kikankane' singer together with his manager Sayid Katerega faced arrest over failure to clear Abowe's SHS 26M.
"He paid close to shs 20m but asked for more time to clear the remaining balance very soon''. Abowe's close pal revealed. The Baboon Forest Crew singer was only given one nad a half weeks to clear or else he will face the law. More stories on GNL

Henry Wadsworth once said, "Zari and Ivan, Becky and GNL." Love and Hate are two sides of the same coin so they have established themselves.
When love turns to hate, it leads to a violent cycle of jealousy and revenge. And this destructive force causes nothing but havoc in the lives of people involved. When these marriages and relationships were contracted, they presented with pomp that no one envisaged that these couples would dare look each other in the eyes or hum discordant tunes.
Some barely lasted a few years, while others lasted upwards of a decade. Here are some of the most celebrated unions and their acts of love gone sour.
GNL & Becky - This was basically a tale of "Nothing for Nothing." Before he had all the gals shaking their 'Kinkakane' local rapper Ernest Nsimbi aka GNL Zamba was dragged to Jinja Road police station by his mistress.
Becky Mirembe dragged him to police that he had assaulted her during the Campus Night at Club Silk. Like a typical woman scorned, after Becky realized that she would not swallow GNL's dongle she demanded to demand for all th goodies she had given him.
According to her police statement, she approached GNL demanding for her money but instead he lost his cool which resulted into physical confrontation. He was released on Police bond and the rapper accepted to reimburse Becky's dime but Becky had already been thumped.
Zari and Ivan - TYhis showbiz couple is made up of more than glamour.Furious Ivan thumped his gorgeous wife Zari at Silk Oxygen after he nabbed her with another man identified only as Ali.
She had to check in at International Hospital for first aid. The following week the two showed up at the same club behaving like the perfect couple yet Zari was still nursing injuries on the face and the arm.
Ivan also destroyed her car out of fury. The two later made up but still; he may love you, darling, but it's clear that something just didn't go right.

They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and Becky Emons is testimony to this. She has vowed never to forgive GNL Zamba. You should remember that their beef sprung up after GNL battered and almost broke Becky's teeth over unclear love wrangles.
But just after releasing Kafodongo song which is basically for scorning him, she has vowed that he hasn't seen the last of her yet. She recently posted on her wall that people should stop telling her to forgive GNL because he should have thought of it before tarnishing her name on TV b y denying her damages and then calling her to ask for forgiveness.

Days after we revealed that Becky Emonz song 'Kafodongo' reportedly attacking luga flow singer, Ernest Nsimbi was a big hit on Youtube, another shocker has come up. Exclusive sources have revealed that Sweden based Becky has given GNL an ultimatum to go on national TV and apologise for assaulting her or else she goes ahead with a court case.
Becky has been telling close pals how GNL pleaded for forgiveness in the presence of her Dad. We landed on one of their conversations and it reads;
"Can you imagine that he got scared for his lies. He looked for ny dad together with his father and he cried for my dad to forgive him. Then my dad calls me and there we were all of us in the meeting with him (his dad, ma dad, me GNL, the lawyers and other members in my dad's NGO...everyone was begging me to forgive him and that he will behave better...Zamba was just crying like a baby.
But all I need is for him to apologise on TV like we agreed or else start the court case again." It should be remembered that GNL spent a night at Kitintale Police station laste year after assaulting Becky Mirembe during Campus night at Club Silk.
The singer was later released on police bond and given the chance to settle the case out of court.

Show me your friend, I will tell you who you are, a popular saying goes. This could apply to Shadrack Kutesa and GNL Zamba we have shockingly learnt. Our snoops have discovered that these guys both hobnob with loaded chics dime.
Sometime last year there was a saga between GNL and his overseas mama Becky. It's said that Shadrack is the one who connected the two (Becky and GNL). But in another development, a certain chic from Norway said Shadrack used to send her messages constantly begging her to send him money.
Snoops learnt that the chic reached an extent of sending him as low as Shs 100,000 but shockingly Shadrack received it from Money Gram. But what amused our snoop was that Shadrack was over the moon for such peanuts as 100Gs. More GNL Articles.

It seems Luga Flow rapper GNL Zamba and his crew want to copy the likes of Klear Kut, Good Lyfe to mention but a few in having binges which see them drinking themselves to near hell.
After penning a Shs 5m Zamba Nite deal with Icon Bar last week, the singer turned his guns to the bottle. The clause in the contract entitled the Baboon Forest Crew members to have any tribe of booze of their choice and quantity on the house.
As the events unfolded during the Inaugural Zamba Nite on Wednesday, members of the crew who included MunnG, Lyrical G and GNL turned up and in the next few minutes they were soaking themselves in booze.
In fact, their binge might spell bad news for them since after Wednesday we hear the bar management is considering an amendment in their contract to limit the booze they are entitled to.
They are worried that at the rate the guys guzzle they might lead to the collapse of the Katwe based bar.

Lugaflow's GNL Zamba, are you reading this? Becky Emons Mirembe, the Sweden based Ugandan girl who had you spend a night in prison has sting you in her new song. The song is titled Kafondongo (Independent Woman) and critics believe it is attacking GNL following their feud last year.
GNL was thrown in Kitante police cells after Becky alleged that GNL had failed to pay dime she had given him. However, the 'Kikankane' singer, Zamba claimed Becky wanted him to shaft her.
The pair has never seen eye to eye since then and have been silently beefing. Becky has now released Kafondongo in which she attacks GNL. In the song she sings that there are always indepednet women whom men want to use to rid them of their poverty.
"Definitely, it is GNLshe was stinging in her song, " a music analyst and crItic told us. Over to you GNL.

Breakups are hard. There is no question about that. And I guess they're harder when both you and your former are famous. There's no getting away from memories of him or her when you're both splashed in papers.
But there is such a thing as over mourning, and these celebs are guilty of that. Because no one should waste time being hung up on an ex, we have designated today as National "Break Up with You Ex" Day.
We don't actually have a specific ex in mind that Straka should get over, but here is an abbreviated list: Charles Oimuke, military guy, Lil Tony and Sizzaman, for good measure. Straka's stock -in-trade has always been endearing her fans but I guess putting off the men in her life.
Chameleone - Dorotia
I read with surprise that Chameleone was actually pissed with ex and mother of his first born daughter, Greant Osea was actually set to wed. It is not like he is going to marry her so why all the resentment.
Juliana Kanyomozi-Amon Lukwago
What's good for the goose....you know. Juliana's breakup with Amon seems to have sent her into a strange spiral. First there was this brief dalliance with Kassim Ouma.
Then she was allegedly linked to Peter Miles. It all seems a bit showy, no? Like she's daring Amon. Our suggestion is that she moves on and tries dating someone.
Ken Ntaro-Desire Luzinda
We first encountered him as singer Desire Luzinda's boyfriend. Just as his ex-squeeze Desire reentered the public eye as Seya's good friend, Ken released this gushing statement: "
"I have moved on and I have a new gal in my life" only to retract the damning words later. To us, it sounds a little like the ex doth protest too much.
Becky has a top spot on si many lists: including the Oh My Lord, Woman, Get Over You Ex Already list. And of course her overly hyped fling with singer GNL, that saw him spend a night in the coolers
Friday, 11 February 2011
Last year, Sweden based Ugandan babe Rebecca Mirembe, popurlarly known as Becky Amons, brought drama in the media when she drew battle lines after, by causing the arrest of her 'side-dish', Hip Hop Rapper GNL Zamba, accusing him of fleecing her of Shs 2m.
It looks like she was trying to prepare some dime for future use. Our snoops reveal that it seems all is not well with GNL's former secret fling mate. Our snoops bumped into her last week stranded at Entebbe road based Salabed Matrix money receiving point.
Our snoops eavesdropped on her while receiving a call and she was overheard pleading that, "Munange Sente Bazinyimye kubanga secret code yange Tebagiraba ku network yabwe."
Becky spent almost two hours yawning and looking despearately stranded. Althoughy Becky used to claim to be dating Sweden top footballer star, AC Milan attacker Zllatan Ibrahimovic, this could be just the usual show off Wolokoso, because it is said that she is doing so badly.
A close pal revealed to us that at first she wanted the world to think she has an amazing life, but the truth is that Becky is a sad gal going through a difficult time.

Rumours that Luga Flow singer GNL Zamba and singer Sheebah Karungi are romping could ripen by the look of things. The two were smoked out at Buddies all over each other and getting cozy on Friday night. In fact their groins looked like they were stuck together as if there was glue.
They were having careless whispers all night long. The two left together at 4am and those who saw them could not help but imagine what could have happened later.

As 2010 comes to an end, we take a look at Kandahar/whooper dealings that caused storms. Some ended tragically (by death) while others ended comically (by reconciliation). Take a look at some that captured our attention.
Sheila Mulinde and Jeff - Married to pastor Mulinde, Sheila was unaware that her husband was suspecting her and had deployed private investigators to trail her. The investigators got a bumper harvest when they smoked out the pastors wife moaning sweet nothings inn praise of a popular barber called Jeff of the famous Jephis' saloon on Jinja road, the pair was briefly detained, pending the pastor's return from the US.
GNL and Becky - If she did not decide to jet into the town and accuse the lad for swindling millions of shillings from her, we would never have known. Becky reported him at Kitante Police and the juicy details of their romping sessions were unveiled. The scandal took another twist when she discovered that GNL was seeing another babe called Ruth.
Rabadaba and Sheila - Just months after ballooning Sheila Ferguson, Rabdaba dumped her, saying she lied about her age. Sheila recently gave birth to a baby boy in the UK. Meanwhile, Rabadaba is always cited with Black, an alleged man eater.
Tonku and Brenda Karamuzi - The pair had love/hate relationship which, friends say was characterised by constant fights. It was not until late last year when Brenda's family realised that she had gone missing. The horror was unveiled when a fumigator discovered her body stuffed in a septic tank in Muyenga.
Tonku, the prime suspect was nabbed and sent to the coolers in Luzira. It's the scandal that welcomed us into 2010.
Sylvia Owori/Neilson - After 14 years of bonking, the final curtain of the show fell when the media published the photo of Andrew Mwenda and Owori snogging. We hear the introvert Neilson threw in the towel and a custody battle for their kids ensued.
Then before the Mwenda dust could settle, a one Malaika appeared on the scene.
Akankwasa and Juliet Katusiime - The suspended National Forest Authority boss, Damien Akankwasa, would have kept his low profile if his wife did not pinch a whooping 900m from his house! (We wonder what percentage that was because she must have left a balance behind).
When the cops intervened, the fella lost the dime, wife and his fatty job. Sorry but such are the tribulations of life.

Our snoops were shocked to the marrow after they spotted Luga Flow star GNL Zamba getting cozy with a white guy at the Acacia based O'Leary Pub A snoop who witnessed the whole debacle told us, "He was with this white guy who looked suspect in the way he was behaving and then all of a sudden, he pecked him.
I don't know if it is some kind of greeting, a way of saying goodnight or something is terribly going on" Well like we said we hope that what we are thinking is totally false. Watch this Space!

Luga Flow star has a new chic apart from Sheebah - Looks like Hip Hop star Ernest Nsimbe aka GNLZamba is on sex rampage with different babes of all sizes and colour. Just last week we told of how the singer was secretly dating former Obsessions Sheebah Karungi.
Now we have learnt that he is also dating a nyaru babe only identified as Cynthia. We are told the pair started dating two weeks back and they are damn serious about it. This will certainly come as disturbing news to his official lover Ruth. The pair has always been fighting.

Luga flow maestro Ernest Nsimbi , better known as GNL Zamba, is dating former Obsessions singer Sheebah Karungi behind girlfriend's back. This comes just a few weeks after it emerged that Sheebah is bisexual and that GNL has been bonking Sweden based Ugandan Becky Emmons Mirembe.
The pair kicked off their romance at Ntinda based bar buddiez where they have theme nights. Sheebah performs at the bar every Tuesday while GNL always comes in as a guest artiste..
From there, they kicked off their steamy romps. Then last night they hit the number one spot Ange Noir and their smitten-ness was very clear. An onlooker said: "They were inseparable-always giggling and cuddling together.
You'd never have thought just a few weeks ago GNL was fighting another of his secret lovers." It was not until 3am that the pair left hand in hand. All their intentions were written all over their faces.

Glamour gal Becky Emonz has vowed to render singer GNL's whopper useless if he doesn't chuck his girlfriend Ruth and start docking at her station permanently. Close sources say Emonz will not give up the Kikankane singers 'cobra whopper' that easily and is determined to do whatever lies in her powers to win him back.
We were told by a close pal, "She is prepared to drop all the charges she placed against him, forget about the money as long as he can bonk her like he used to." Short of that; she will use everything in her reach including the connections and money to bring him to his knees.
Becky, who is rumoured to be romping with former Barcelona and now Inter Milan striker Zltan Ibrahimovic jetted into the country from sweden where she is based to celebrate Eid-Al-Fitr.
She had hoped to have serious romps with GNL but was surprised to find the guy had hooked up his current gal Ruth. Close pals say she got furious and started demanding for the dime she had invested in him.
This dispute later boiled out of control at Club Silk a few weeks back.
Wednesday, 22 September 2010
We knew there was something fishy the moment we learnt that lugaflow singer Ernest Nsamba aka GNL Zamba had been locked behind bars over allegations of assaulting a woman hanging in his neck.
Now we can exclusively reveal that the babe at the centre of all this is none other than Sweden based Ugandan glamour girl Becky Emonz whom we have been reporting on our gossip pages that he was devouring former Barcelona and now Inter Milan Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Apparently, Beck (Mirembe) and GNL were bonking before he hooked up his current girl friend Ruth. And all along she was the one bank rolling him. A source told us, "The money she claims GNL diddled was meant for him to chuck his chic Ruth and dock at her station.
He took the dime and never dumped his gal, so she is furious. So is it a situation of a kandahar mission that was aborted midway leaving behind some wounded casualties. In fact w had reported sometime back how she had clashed with Ruth.
Emon who jetted into the country to celebrate Eid el Fitr, clashed with the Kikankane singer on Tuesday last week at Club Silk where she claims he assaulted her. His case was registered under file no: SD Ref: 03/15/09/2010 at Jinja road police station.
She has vowed to take him on till he surrenders his whopper. For that she wins the accolade of Maneater of the year.

We knew he could not survive on the music pinnacle for long. And the latest is that fast fading luga flow star GNL Zamba has started performing for a paltry Shs 50k. Snoops spotted GNL at the Ntinda based buddies bar trying to negotiate for a deal to perform for clients.
A source told WTF, "He wanted to perform for Shs 100k but the management was offering only Shs 50k" Zamba later took up the deal before minting more dime from revelers. This is the same fella who caused a stir when he pocketed a sum of Shs 300k meant to sing at Kampala road based Abuja bar but failed to turn up.
Surely he is a goner. Rabadaba better watch out because you could be next.

Uganda's first hip hop artiste to be taken seriously, GNL Zamba seems to have earned big from his music. Word has reached our desk hat the Luga flow king is set to start a clothing line of his own.
Celeb Wire connectors have learnt that he is setting up a shop in Ntinda, at the new building opposite Semawata road. His clothing line will include hip hop designs like caps, T-shirts, baggy jeans, and bling bling stuff. We hear GNL is following the foot steps of hip hop legends Diddy who owns Sean John Label and 50 Cents G Unit label.
If all goes well, the shop will open next month. The singer will name his line; The Baboon Collections. Celeb Wire connectors wish the 'Kikankane' boss good luck.

The final results are out as Zain customers have chosen the five artistes to perform alongside R.Kelly in the 'I Believe' Concert set for January next year. Jose Chameleone has beaten all the musicians by far, garnering a massive 30 percent a head of Bebe Cool who got 16.7.
Others are Goodlyfe duo Moze Radio and Weasel, GNL and Peter Miles who will provide the local flavour at the show. Sadly, there is no Cindy, Grace Nakimera, Iryn Namubiru or even Lady Mariam. The top five will now go on to share the stage with international artiste, R.Kelly at the widely anticipated Zain "I Believe Concert"

We thought he was too successfull and could have the world his way. But the latest we have is that luga-flow self styled king GNL Zamba was denied a visa to the UK recently.
Zamba, who was up beaten about the tour is said to have lost out on a lucrative deal after his promoters failed to secure him a work permit. We wonder whether these guys are such amateurs in the game that they forgot to chase one for him. Sorry GNL.
Mwana Ani Aluleeta? Meanwhile, we heard that GNL and his better half are soon to be parents. The boy needs Kyeyo dime.
Sunday, 07 June 2009
Upcoming Luganda Hip Hop star and local music artiste GNL Zamba has the entire reasons to smile from jaw to jaw after landing on 45M from Balaaam of Balaam Enterprises. The 45Million was dished out to him for all the business the two have been engaged in of late.
The moment he got the dime, GNL was so overwhelmed and straight away deposited a huge amount to his local account and there after contacted an estates dealer over a posh crib in Ntinda. The crib along Ntinda-Kiwatule road is being sold by a local businessman and GNL plans to up the standards of his crib to a tune of 100Mn in architecture and furnishing.
Talk of hard work paying and minting bills in the music industry.
Saturday, 25 April 2009
The time for the likes of Jose Chameleone, Ragga Dee to give room to new artistes is certainly near as Willy Byarabaha brings it down on the new artists who are taking the music industry by storm.
Esther Nabaasa - The tusker project fame winner has finally kicked off her music career with a hot album out. We thought she had disapointed her fans because immediately after TPF, Esther promised to storm music industry in high gear but it wasn't till lately. With her great voice you can expect a lot from her.
David Lutalo - It is as if he has been around fir quite sometime but he just came on the scene last year. That shows how talented the youngster is. His song Kapapala was nominated for song of the year award but it lost out to Nakudatta.
Wafagiyo - You got to bow down for these three stunning gals. The birth of Wafagiyo practically means girl groups Blu3, Obsessions will be forgotten. By the way another gal group, Dream Galz has already crumbled. Remember Dream Galz used to be managed by Emma Mulondo at one time. And he is the owner of Wafagiyo. Their debut Mukidongo is mega. No wonder the Gals (Esther, Deyna and Jackie) have already landed lucrative deals with link, Chi and Password bars.
Chilli Galz - Well this is another new singing group but not as great as Wafagiyo. They are born and will certainly rule for sometime. They have three singles of which one is Omulungi Yoono and they were at their creative best in the hot thrilling song video that was shot in the hills of Lira.
Toniks - Now this one! He is young and highly talented lad. Beera Nange, his last year debut hit was a massive hit, even getting him nominated for an award in the MAMAS. A section of people thought he was a one hit wonder but boo he returned with Nsubiiza another great piece from the young man. I don't think Michael Ross hasbeen sleeping of late.
Aziz Azion - The former Jekaki band lead singer-now solo-promises a lot. He has taken other stars by storm and it is like he has been there for long. His debut song Nkumila Omukwano is big. All he now needs is a follow up hit and women will all over him.
GNL - The likes of Navio and Babaluku have for ages tried to push the hip hop system but it failed. But not any more with emergency of Earnest Zamba aka GNL. GNL is Uganda's true king of hip hop. All artists are fighting to work with him on duets. He is outing song after song and Jesus, they are all hits. The likes of Navio, Weasel and Radio who've done collabos with him should count themselves lucky.

Hip Hop Star GNL and Cindy were involved in a car accident. This happened on Friday at about 11:00pm as they were making there way to Nkozi University for a performance. Chances are Cindy was driving because they were in her Rav4.
Before that they had been at Club Palui in Ntinda but never under estimate the power of buckling up, they escaped unhurt and the two are doing well.

Lugaflow Hip-Hop star GNL left all revelers last Thursday baffled when he openly started getting touchy-feely with Blu3's Lillian Mbabazi at Silk Lounge.
This happened after the unplugged show which featured GNL and Navio. The two retreated to one of the corners of the club where our snoops witnessed them intimately looking each other in the eyes, sharing cigarettes and drinking from one wine glass. We wonder if they are up to anything.
During the same show, project Fame's Naava made a grand entry with a heavily built Isreali man called Perez.
