Jamwa boarding the bus to Luzira Prison
Embattled former NSSF Boss Mr. Chandi David Jamwa has been remanded to Luzira prison until 24-Jun-2010 for causing a 2.7Bn loss to National Social Security Fund where he was a Managing Director.

Jamwa who was appearing before the Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa at the Anti-Corruption Court  was denied bail and it can be decided on Jun 24 whether or not bail can be granted. While in court, Mr. Jamwa was dressed in a black T-shirt and Jeans.

Jamwa was arrested on Tuesday morning at 3:00am in a Toyota Tundra as he was heading to Kenya. He is charged with causing a financial loss and abuse of office.

Its so unfortunate that Mr. Chandi David Jamwa a person of his high caliber and on that note a certified Accountant is being implicated for causing a Financial loss to NSSF this is so unethical as it sends a wrong signal for the Accountancy body. But the question remains why is that mostly those in Govt organizations or enterprises are always involved in fraudulent intentions?

Mukwana if he is truly falsely implicated, why is he running away. A few things raises those fundamental questions. Where was he going at 3.00 oclock in the morning and why to kenya. To parttly answer your question, its because cannot stand tempetation whatevr the risk. they would rather risk their carrers, the lifestyle of their family for ill gotten gains. In our culture, corrupotion is very accepted and not frowned upon. The environement and circumstances also encourage corruption. Civil servants i.e teacher are very poorly paid and if at all paid, the salaries come through very late. Whate are they supposed to eat or pay school fees for their children with.
