March 17, 2010 was declared a day of mourning by Makerere University and no lectures took place as a result of the two Kenyan students Brian Amuoga and Ignatius Nyongesa who were killed on Monday during the Guild President campaigns.
Two Kenyan students and a Ugandan were shot by a security guard of Snow White after an exchange of who would take the race. The University authorities are in talks with the Kenyan High Commission and the parents of the deceased to repatriate the bodies and take care of the burial costs in Kenya.
The University will also provide transport to all those who will be going for burial in Kenya. The Ugandan who was shot along with the Kenyan's is still in a critical condition at Mulago Hospital. The Guild Elections have been called off and a new date will be communicated at a later date.
