Prof. Nsibambi and the pilot are recuperating while others who were on board at the time of the crash have been discharged. The Prime Minister is very grateful with the Doctors at Mulago Hopital who were working tooth and nail to ensure that the he gets well pretty soon.
“The helicopter was okay from the beginning until one of the pilots came to tell us that it had developed a mechanical problem and we should prepare for an emergency landing. And immediately after he told us, all of a sudden, it begins spinning, twisting and whirling in the air."
"I became scared. We were almost on top of Bugiri hospital and in order for the pilot not to crash into the hospital; he chose to look for a plain ground. All of a sudden, part of the helicopter hit a tree. I felt like there was a burn; and I ran out of the plane. One of my shoes was off already……… We are lucky that it didn’t burn up or burn the hospital…
His Excellency [Museveni] sent us another to pick us, am so grateful. I am still in some pain although I sit and walk but with difficulty. Am so grateful to Mulago doctors who have treated me very well. They have done an X-ray and I know I might leave here [Mulago] either Thursday or Friday."
