Lydia Atim Draru who killed the former Maj. General James Kazini
It is confirmed that the former Major General died at Namuwongo this morning after he was hit on the head with a metal bar by his girl friend Lydia Draru.

The girl friend has been arrested and she is in the custody of Criminal Investigations Dept (CID) for questioning. Mourners are making their way to Namuwongo to comfort other family members.

The Maj. General's body has a deep cut on the head. Lydia Atim has already been taken to court and while there she demanded for a Lugbara interpreter as she claimed not to know English.

His body lay in the pool of blood. He was driving a white land cruiser with Sudanese registration plates which was parked outside Lydia Atim's house.

A tentative programme has been released by the Acting chairperson of the army General Court Martial, Brigadier Stephen Kashaka who said a requiem service will be held at All Saints Church in Nakasero on Thursday morning and there thereafter burial will take place on Friday at Shanga in Kiruhura District.

Maj. Gen. James Kazini survived by 5 children, of which 4 are girls and the other a boy with two wives. Lydia Atim Draru is not part of the the two wives though.

He succeeded in getting through the 1980-1986 war, helped flush out the ADF from rwenzori mountains, came back from Congo and he dies mercilessly in the hands of a weak war; the war of Love. Uganda has lost a brilliant, trusted citizen. For he was great and his contributions to the UPDF will always keep a platfoam. May the Almighty God rest his soul in etenal peace.

R.I.P General, Thanks for fighting for this country, & all it's band of opportunists. It hurts the circumstances under which he died, i hope the military court martial will be too embarrassed to sing his praises when he can't hear them. You don't treat your best fighters with such contempt, irrespective of their errors. As for the Lydia girl....Are we now clear that domestic violence goes either way?

the death of major general kazine in the love battle is just one in the many cases Ugandan men are dieing.Indeed this year alone and a few other years has seen many die. We can't wait to put in place the domestic relations act. Besides religious leaders and other community leaders should come up and senstise the masses about dangers of love wars in homes.

Its unfortunate that we have lost such a brilliant soldier. May the Almighty grant him eternal peace. But i remain wondering what is taking place in Uganda, have we lost our Humanity to start behaving like wild beasts. The people behaving in such a manner must face justice. We can not allow certain creatures to behave in such unhumane way by taking away life they can not give with impunity. Those in authority must act accordingly. R.I.P My General

The death of Major General James Kazini (RIP) is an eye opener to all those who take the institution of marriage and love making so lightly. It is unfortunate for the young generation to see such a great hero to die in such circumstances that leave alot to be desired. Young people can not emulate such ugandans who have contributed alot yet end in miserable death. Death must come our way but we need to taste it in a very dignified manner. Dieing amidist sexual scndles with concubines when one is a high profile citizen is a great shame. May the soul of Major General James Kazin rest in peace.

Only God knows what could have triggered such a reaction from the g/f at that time of the morning. It is rather unfortunate for Gen. Kazini end the road the way he met his death. There is a time for everything... this world is not our home, we are just passengers and we should treat our fellow passengers with respect and humility. Well General, it was your time to go back to your creator. Only the lord give life and takes it. May the peace of the lord Jesus comfort his family. May the Almighty God judge him with mercy and give him eternal peace, all the peace that the world deprived him.

Am retired from the uganda poeples defence forces, actually its bad news about the death of affande major general james kazini,he has died in amistrious sercummstance and according to reliable news, this killer lydia durlu must been assisted by some other persons in the murder,i therefore appeal to the police to thoroughly intorogate the suspectand find out how the chair man was found in possesion of ;300 dollars that belonged to kazini, the police should leave no stone un turned, may god bless kazinis soul where ever it may be.

I was schocked by the way our Maj. General would survive the wars he fought and die with out a fight. Who then can fight for him? Let the judicial system in uganda fight for him. As for the rest, always be on the alert any time because you never know who is after your life. General, i salute you for your efforts and may God bless you because your are a clean man in His face. Your blood is on your lover's head and all your sins too. You are in heaven there is no doubt about that.

i really feel 4 the wife and 5 children this guy has left behind, but it should be pointed out these top guys in the army are so reckless like their commander in chief suggested, i have never agreed with M7 but i think on this occasion he is right, a former army commander of a country should be mixing with pple like that, leaving his wife and kids at home while he falls out of pubs, its a shame that a much feared kazini fell like a chicken, i think other top army officials should learn and respect they families and tax payers or else they will meet their maker

i think we need to be objective about this matter, he was a married man should he have had a girl friend? What happened to him was inexcusable however you reap what you saw......

Hi I can't believe this! Major Gen James Kazini dead? It is so sad for me to stomach this news. Surely, How could a woman turn into such a crude weapon of wanton destruction? That woman has dealt a huge blow to Uganda, Museveni, UPDF and to Kazini's family....Doesn't this prostitute know that it takes a nation to build a man? Too bad. Probably he didn't carry her flowers or them bucks....
