Riyaz Kurji a two time Winner of Uganda's biggest rally could not make it on Saturday to finish 13th Pearl of Africa rally. He died instantly when his Subaru Impreza N 8 rolled several times in Mwera Mityana. My deepest sympathy to the family and I am sure this is not a blow to just his family but to the entire Rally Family who have known him for all these years for his kindness, simplicity and his rally talent. My Deepest Condolences go to the Kurji family. It's always sad when a person passes away in MotorSport. People say that Rallying and Racing is dangerous - it's what we enjoy doing the most and that's what Riyaz enjoyed doing. I survived a very nasty Rallying accident many years ago near Iganga in Uganda(Pepsi Cola Rally) came close to passing away but I did not give up Rallying - he will be sadly missed by the Rallying community in Africa and many parts of the world that knew Riyaz. May Allah grant Riyaz Janaat Al Naseeb Ameen

My condolences to teh family and friends of Riyaz. I am an ardent Subaru Rally Team supporter, and Riyaz has been a real inspiration to me, even here in kenya. It is a great loss to the rallying fraternity, and mainly to Subaru. May his death be a lesson on the need for WRC standard safety features on all our rally cars. I mourn his death.

Still recovering from the shock.Followed motor rally since 1984 when i was a youngster.Saw and watched Jimmy Dean,Sam Ssali,Chipper Adams, karmali,Hirji,Ssebyala, lumala,Blick,Hajji Jjunju, and several i can't write all on here.Watched motor rallying in Uganda from the years of Nissan 240 RS,Nissan PA 10,Celica,Peaugot,Levin and till Mitsubishi and the Subaru. You picked a good car-Subaru. Roll Cage or not,i/we believe you knew what you were doing and God just had different plans for you.For the guts and nerve you had,if i were asked to choose a sport besides soccer/football this day, i would strongly choose motor rallying. You did alot for Uganda and African motor rally.Rest in peace.
