URA Online Vehicle Registration Launched Officially

Its now official that all vehicles will be registered online following the launch of the Online Vehicle Registration method by Uganda Revenue Authority.

A copy of the new log book that replaces the old one was also showed during the launch at Serena Hotel on Friday. In attendance was the Commissioner Traffic, Uganda Police Dr. Steven Kasiima and the guest of honour was Hon. Byandala, the Minister for Works and Transport.

For new vehicles an agent will be required but for old vehicles, you just have to enter your vehicle particulars on a form off the URA website. To validate your vehicle, one must have a 10 digit TIN number.

The online system went live on the 02-Jul-2012. Motorists have exactly one year to register or validate their cars. Police officers will be equipped with tablets to verify vehicle details on spot once that deadline expires.

thanks URA for the innovation but since the launch of the new registration system, the car agents are telling us that the system is most often than not down and whenever on which is very rear, its disgustingly slow. what is happening?

my card has a stamp from ura that says not to be trasfered with out the concent of the tresuary yet am not the first owner any solution

I appreciate URA for introducing on line car registration for such a congested and disorganized transport system in Uganda.i believe old vehicle (those in poor mechanical state) will not have same priority but to be granted authoritative leave. thanks.

the public seems stranded with process of registration of vehicles.very few people read news papers especially in towns outside kampala. why dont you increase your awareness programes on radios and tvs as well.the qn is what process has one got to re-register ones car?

I have tried several times to up grade my card for my motorcycle to new one but i have failed. i wish to ask for step by step information which will lead to successful up grading of the old registraion book to the new one using e registration.

@ Muramira you put in the newspaper caling for the owner of that car registration, after seven days, court can decide on the way forward.

with the new registration system one should be able to verify ownership of a vehicle.This can curb people who sell off other peoples vehicles claiming it belongs to them.
