Singer died at Beverly Hilton Hotel
American singer Whitney Houston was pronounced dead yesterday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel after resuscitation efforts failed. She died at the age of 48. She had sold over 170 million albums, videos and singles. Some of her hits include "How Will I Know", "Where do Broken Hearts Go" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

She was married to Bobby Brown in 1992 but divorced in 2007. They had one daughter Bobbi Kris.

The news of her death came on the eve of the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The sudden cause of her death is still unclear. Meanwhile, drug use had taken its toll on the singer in the recent years.

Her fans across the globe are stunned.

Update: Some of the tributes to Whitney:

Maurice Kirya: "R.I.P Whitney Houston, your music will forever live in our hearts and so will you! Will always love you!"

Keko
: "I love you Whitney, I found my moment in time, thank you!"

Justin Bieber: " just heard the news. so crazy. One of the GREATEST VOICES EVER just passed. RIP Whitney Houston. My prayers go out to her friends and family"

Desire Luzinda: "I grew up on Whitney's music and even when she got out of reharb I still had hope in her but she's now gone at just 48."
