Where are these Uganda Celebs now?
Uganda has witnessed  many tycoons who come on the social scene with their flashy lifestlyes only to disappear off the radar. The same report looks at artistes who were hot back in the days but are now falling short.

Faded Tycoons:

Mike Ezra - He was good at financing sports activities through his Ezra Track Team Board, spent Shs60m on the Uganda Cranes to send them to Niger for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. In 2004, Mike Ezra through his ETTB made a £60m bid to buy the English Premiership club Leeds United, but the bid was rejected by the club.

The last time he made an appearance in Uganda was when he was displaying dollars at Emin Pasha Hotel to disprove those who thought that he was broke. The last of him was when he waws arrested in Kenya for issuing a bounching cheque.

Meddie Ssentogo - He was popularly known as Young Money with a fleet of posh vehicles ranging from a Tundra, Range Rover Sport and all the vehicles had his name 'Meddie' as number plates, donated a BMW to Jose Chameleone but the Meddie of today, has now sold off almost everything including his house in Munyonyo to pay off debts.

Bad Black used to give him all that money before David Greenhalgh came in to block the taps and now for fear of attaching his property, he has sold off everything. He now cruises a range rover sport in UAQ series.

Artistes:

Desire Luzinda - Her curves and body shape did a lot in boosting her music career. She released some good music like 'Nyumirwanyo', then did a collabo with the Ngoni's. Right now she continues to release tracks but not hits.

Juliana Kanyomozi - Have you listened to her style of music lately? It's totally different from the Juliana back then who you could not dare compare to any artiste. Its not clear if she is trying to follow the crowds but you could appreciate her music the moment your ears could interact with it, now it takes time before one appreciates it.

They were a team with Iryn, split and went solo but she was still better than Iryn, right now, looks like Iryn is at the top of the game when you compare the two may be because Juliana takes long breaks and yet Iryn is constantly releasing track after track.

Ragga Dee - The Digida star also known as the Grand Pa of Ugandan Music had resorted to performing in bars a move that was for the upcoming artistes and not the 'big sizes' like him. His last album launch was a flop at Kati Kati last year.

Phina Mugerwa - Used to do well especially with her waist dance which earned her the  'Shakira' title but from the time she became a mother it has been a bit tight for her though she continues to release tracks but not hits.

Uganda lost meaning for the word CELEB...These poor chaps above are just struggling to make it in life and i call them WANA BE.You should realize that the most comfortable people in UG don't show off. As for the artists, many of them are looking for what to do but they are not musicians!

Thanks for the article. However am writing total discontent of how you media guys are criticizing Julianna. Fine we all appreciate that her music has gone a little down but that shouldn't attract all the criticism you guys are hyping on her. Every one in life has their ups and downs and this is Julianna's down. Irene too had her 'down' when Julianna was up but it didn't attract the publication. Instead of supporting her, you guys are putting immense pressure on the the artist. Remember she is one of the most gifted artist in East Africa, she is only rivaled by Kenya's Amani and our own Irene. Lets Get behind her am sure she will bounce back. Am a staunch Julianna fan and I cant take this anymore.

Who is Iryn? You can't compare a star and a celeb. l Julianna is known all over the world and that Iryn is big only in Uganda. Julianna's music can be played 10yrs later and appreciated while that other girl churns out tu-small songs for the moment. Julianna is a star the other a Celeb. Julianna move to Kenya or Tanzania where we will appreciate your talent.
