One Month to CHOGM
With One month to go all seems to be in top gear for the big summit. Below are some observations
Banks - Have rolled out with new products and the central bank is likely to license more
operators before the year ends. Credit cards can now be accessed in some banks.
Buses - The Buses which were promised a year back are now seen plying the Kampala
roads and they are as low as 500 shs for a distance of 12 kms
City - The city is generally clean and neat.The constitutional square is now enclosed and well designed.
Security - The SPCs have been deployed in a very corner of the city just to avert any nasty experience. In line with security CCTVs have also been installed
Supermarkets - Many have opened in almost all major suburbs of the city and all are worth going to. Its a matter of where you are located
Roads - Major transformation and changes have
Hotels - Very many worth going to hotels have sprung up across the city.
Telecommunication - The old players still continue providing customers with better and affordable services as the newly registered firms in the market work out plans of striking with even better services.
Transport - Traffic Jams have reduced to a great extent as a result of the improved road network, traffic lights in all corners of the city, no potholes
News Papers - This year in particular Uganda has witnessed more newspapers coming up on the market and the old ones have increased the content and value and we are just about to witness a 100 page daily newspaper
Websites - There are more websites dedicated to CHOGM as a summit than websites that tackle Uganda as a country.
